In January 2018, the software company Playson released the first Crystal Land online slot machine. Now, we welcome the return and the follow-up that has cunningly been titled Crystal Land 2. In this review of Crystal Land 2, I will see how the game performs, comparing some of the new slots against the original. I will also look at the bonus features, the programming, and the payout potential the game has.
To help you better understand how Crystal Land 2 functions as a slot, we at Casinos.com have embedded the official demo game into the review for you to play. You can access it without any downloads or registration and play it from any iOS or Android smartphone.

Crystal Land 2 carries the same design theme as the original, set in some country landscape with crystal rocks that sprout from the ground and need mining or harvesting. The colour dynamic is brighter in this new game, with the enormous 7x7 slot grid embedded into the rock as opposed to just floating in mid-air. The game also comes with a new feature, a miner character that stands to the left of the reels.
Crystal Land 2 does not come with paylines — it's a cluster pays slot. As you can see from the slot setup, it is unique. This game formulates wins by aligning matching symbols on adjacent reels vertically and horizontally. As you might be able to tell, the game is partially blocked by rocks, which break when winning lines are produced to reveal more crystals and potentially help produce further wins.
The Information button will direct you to the game’s paytable. There, you can learn more about the functions of the game and the symbol values.
Do not be fooled by the fun and jolly design of this game; it’s hard to win, and as cute as it seems, it will be a costly experience.
When you load Crystal Land 2, either as a real money game, which you can find inside all the top casinos online, or as a free demo game, first adjust the default settings. Crystal Land 2 defaults to a bet cost of $1.00. Adjust using the plus or minus buttons if this is too much or too low. Spins cost between $0.10 and $100. Once you are ready to play, press the spin button.
To form wins, you need five or more of the same symbols to be adjacent to one another. Once a win is triggered, these symbols are removed from the game, and a cascade of new symbols falls into their place. This can create a combination of wins, having only to press the spin button once. With a win, a section of the rock is removed to reveal more of the slot. This works from bottom to top, with more rock to be uncovered as it climbs higher up the rows of symbols. So, the more consecutive wins you make, in theory, the greater the chances are of producing bigger returns.
During play, there are features of multipliers that boost payouts, and Wild symbols can also contribute to the formation of winning combinations. When Wild symbols produce wins, you will see that symbol added to the Diamond Pile. This is a feature that assists in unlocking the free spins bonus round.
Crystal Land 2 comes with a couple of talking points. First, the multipliers for this game can climb to a rate of 100x your wager. This is something the original game didn’t have. Crystal Land 2 also comes with a free spins bonus game. This can be triggered when you have revealed the entire 7x7 playing area of the slot. In doing this, you are awarded five free spins. Each win formed also increases your spin counter by one free spin. During this bonus round, random wilds are included, which means you might hit a x100 multiplier.
The slot also harbours a Bonus Buy slots feature. This allows players to play the bonus free spins feature immediately, but doing so has a cost. The value will be 100x, the amount you wish to pay per spin. So, spins at $1.00 make the bonus feature $100 to play.
Do not be fooled by the fun and jolly design of this game; it’s hard to win, and as cute as it seems, it will be a costly experience.
I played Crystal Land 2 set to its default amount of $1 per spin. I played 50 spins, thus spending $50, and this is my return: I ended up winning a total of only $42.80, so I was down by $7.20.
I then tried the Bonus Buy feature for $100 ($1 per spin). I won $27.60, again, making a huge loss. This was expected because this is how slots work. Winning is luck-based.
The maximum payout possible is $1,000,000! This can only be achieved by playing spins at a cost of $100 per play. This is because the max return is 10,000 times the value you pay per spin. Now, this is twice as much as you can win when playing the first Crystal Land casino game.
Crystal Land 2 comes with a 95.50% Return to Player rating, which is slightly greater than the 95.20% that comes with the first game. The volatility remains programmed to a high setting, which gives reason for my poor efforts in trying to win. High-volatility games come with fewer hits, but their appeal is found in their ability to produce large payouts in those rare times.
Personally speaking, on a gaming level, when it comes to play dynamics, Crystal Land 2 doesn’t offer much. It’s not offering anything overtly different from what a hundred other cascading slot games already provide. Now, what makes this game stand out from the rest of the titles at top casinos is the colossal $1 million payout.
If you want entertainment, then you should play other casino games. But if you just want the big bucks, then Crystal Land 2 can accommodate. My alternative recommendations that come with a similar theme to Crystal Land 2 would be Gems Gone Wild by Red Tiger and Crystal Classics by Booming Games. This slot comes with the same huge 7x7 layout.
