A north Glasgow bingo club is reopening its doors this Saturday after a full refurbishment, promising a bigger, better experience for returning players and one lucky punter could walk away £10,000 richer. There will be a new bar, players' lounge and £10K prize up for grabs as the Glasgow bingo hall welcomes back players.
Buzz Bingo Possilpark, located on Hawthorn Street, will celebrate its relaunch on 11 October with live music, a roaming magician, and tech giveaways, including laptops and tablets. The reopening marks part of a £25 million investment by Buzz Bingo to modernise its venues across the UK.
The newly refurbished club features a sleek bar, a modernised Players Lounge, and upgraded decor throughout. According to Buzz Bingo, the transformation aims to attract both seasoned bingo regulars and a new wave of players, especially from the Gen Z crowd rediscovering the game.
Gary McDonald, general manager at Buzz Bingo Glasgow, Possilpark, said the early reaction from members has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We’re very excited to welcome both familiar faces and new members back to our newly transformed club,” McDonald said.
“The response to the revamped decor, the stylish new bar, and our upgraded Players Lounge so far has been amazing.”
He added that the weekend’s festivities will be the “biggest celebration we’ve had in Possilpark,” noting the £10,000 prize and packed entertainment schedule as major highlights.
Bingo’s Comeback: Gen Z Drives Resurgence
Buzz Bingo, formerly known as Gala Bingo before rebranding in 2018, has over 80 clubs nationwide. The company says it is leading a nationwide bingo revival by blending classic gameplay with immersive modern features and social events.
Stevie Shaves, chief operating officer at Buzz Bingo, said the relaunch of the Possilpark location reflects the company’s broader ambition to reposition bingo as a top-tier night out.
“This transformation of our Glasgow club underscores Buzz Bingo’s commitment to providing the best bingo and entertainment experiences in the world,” Shaves said. “We’re investing £25m into our venues over the next few years.”
He added that bingo’s new popularity among Gen Z players is driving innovation in the industry.
“Buzz Bingo is leading that revival by blending the classic elements everyone loves with modern features like our immersive bingo experiences, retro-inspired lounges and locally themed decor,” he said.
Bingo's Evolution and Rebranding
The return of Buzz Bingo Possilpark is more than just a facelift, it signals a shift in how traditional venues are rebranding to stay relevant in an era of digital entertainment. With a push toward hybrid offerings, immersive social events, and more accessible price points, bingo is evolving into a high-value, low-cost night out, especially for younger generations.
The £10,000 prize on offer this weekend also adds a high-stakes incentive for both new visitors and returning players alike.
Buzz Bingo’s wider investment strategy suggests this isn’t a one-off. If Possilpark’s reopening is successful, more venues across the UK could follow suit with their own high-energy revamps.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
