Title: Book of Monsters
By: Pragmatic Play
Synopsis: A new casino game heads out into the big wide world of online casinos. Sadly, the game is unable to offer more than what it appears, leading it to a life of joblessness, depression, and isolation from society.
Chapter One: Introduction
Once upon a time, there was a slot developer called Pragmatic Play. Now, this developer wasn’t very good at making casino games but desperately wanted to hang out with all the better slot machines in the best casinos online. Their plan? To make a game called Book of Monsters, make it a Cluster Pays game, with loads of reels and rows, and designed in pink, purple, and blue colors.
Be afraid, players, be very afraid.

Let us now dissect the gaming elements to reveal the actual contents of this absolute piece of work called Book of Monsters.
The Return to Player is possibly the only normal thing about this game at 96.50%. The slot is developed with a high volatility setting. This means that the performance will lean more towards the style of ‘the more you put in, the more you get out.’ The maximum payout is 5,000 times the betting price. Therefore, if you play the max bet of $240 per spin, you could win a jackpot of $1,200,000.
To start the game, begin with selecting your bet. The prices range between $0.20 and $240. Press spin to start playing, and to win, a cluster of the same symbol needs to align on the seven reels and seven rows. Five or more leads towards a payout. The bigger the cluster, the bigger the win.
Those are the rules of engagement at a base game level.
Beyond the base game, there are opportunities to land the few special features inside the Book of Monsters.
Triggered during random points of play, you can land enlarged symbols. These can be 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, or 7x7.
The Book of Monsters slot by Pragmatic Play is nothing new; it’s void of creativity and doesn’t challenge any game in the market. The Book of Monsters should have been left on the shelf of bad ideas. The room in which that shelf is bolted to the wall should then break, causing the book to fall and get damaged.
The building containing the room that holds the broken shelf and the damaged book should then catch fire and burn to the ground.
The town where the building is, that has the room, and that stored the book should then be nuked, sealing the area off as uninhabitable due to high radiation levels. This way, no one can ever be bored by this game.
I stand by my verdict, people. I stand by it so much that the state of that small peaceful town, which is home to that building where the book lays in ashes on the floor by a bit of shelf next to it, should be directly hit by an asteroid.
Well, here we are, presented with a game called the Book of Monsters. If there was ever a casino game that ticked every pet-hate I have, it’s this one right here. I’m of the opinion that Book of Monsters didn’t need to be made. Cluster Pay slots are weak in paying out, and the grandiose style of this game is highly misleading. There are so few features that I am forced to extend my preamble to make this review last more than 500 words.
The game seems to target an audience I wouldn’t want to be associated with. But I cannot knock the $6 win that lands on my third spin. The music is like that of a nauseating funfair, and whilst the design does have a certain appeal, what I’m getting from the experience is exactly what I thought I’d get. Halfway into my spin, I land only my third win. Frankly, this game is just too bad to continue playing.
